ClearPDF — Privacy Policy

Summary: Your documents stay on your device — ClearPDF never uploads the PDFs you open, the documents you scan, or the text it extracts. To fix bugs and improve the app, ClearPDF does send anonymous crash reports and usage analytics to Google (Firebase). It shows no ads and does not sell your data.

1. Your documents (never collected)

The PDFs you open, the documents you scan, and the text extracted by OCR are processed on your device and are never uploaded to us or to Google by ClearPDF.
A local list of recently opened/scanned files (reference + name) is kept on your device so you can reopen them. You can remove any entry at any time.
Scanning and OCR run on-device. When you choose "Save to…" or "Share", the file goes only to the destination you pick (e.g. Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, or local storage), handled by that app.

2. Diagnostics we do collect (crash & analytics)

ClearPDF includes Firebase Crashlytics (crash reporting) and Google Analytics for Firebase (usage analytics), provided by Google. These automatically send limited, non-content diagnostic data to help us find crashes and understand how the app is used:

Crash data	Stack traces, the app state at the time of a crash, and whether the app is responsive.
Device & app info	Device model, operating-system version, app version, language, and coarse region.
Usage / app activity	Basic events such as app opens and sessions (to measure stability and usage).
Identifiers	A randomly generated app-instance identifier used by Firebase. This is not your name, email, or account.

This data never includes the contents of your documents, scans, or extracted text. It is used only to operate and improve ClearPDF, is transmitted securely, and is processed by Google under its own terms. It is not used to show you ads, and we do not sell it. 3. Permissions

Camera — only while you are scanning a document; scanning is processed on-device.
Internet / network state — used to send the crash & analytics diagnostics above, and to download the on-device scanner/OCR models the first time. Your documents are not sent over the network by ClearPDF.
File access — only for the specific PDF you pick; no broad storage access is requested.

4. Your choices

You can limit or reset analytics identifiers via your device's settings (e.g. "Delete advertising ID"), and you can request deletion of collected diagnostics by contacting us. Uninstalling the app stops all further collection.

5. Children

ClearPDF is a general-purpose utility, not directed at children, and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Changes

Any update to this policy will be posted at this URL with a new "last updated" date.
